PRESENT DAY

January 22, 2020

The new millennium started strongly with the Wasps again sweeping the 2001 MRU finals, with wins by the 1sts, 2nds and Wasps Women. This was followed by premier division championships in 2007, ’08 and ’09. The 2006 season featured a rare undefeated regular season schedule for the 1sts, only to suffer a single loss in the final against the U of M Wombats. The Seconds took another title in 2009, and the most recent cup win for the First side came in 2013, where the Wasps knocked off the top two seeds to claim the trophy in Brandon.
Tours in the new century started with the Netherlands in 2001, which saw the side capture the Nijmegen Wasps 10s tournament, Barbados in 2010, and the most recent tour to Ireland in 2015 to celebrate our 50th anniversary.
A new affiliation has also been forged with another sister club, the Regina Condors, for which a number of past Wasps have played, and it rivals the association that’s been formed with the Pirates.
